Tips for Academic Success
Meeting the following academic requirements is crucial for your academic time abroad:
- Attendance: Make sure you understand the professor’s attendance policy for both classes and ayudantías (TA sessions)
- Exam Schedule Planning: The schedule detailing the date and time for midterm and final exams is typically published only one to two weeks before the exam period officially begins.
Travel Planning Recommendation
To ensure your exchange semester is an academic success, we strongly urge you to plan your logistics with caution:
- All travel plans, whether personal or tourism-related, must be made outside of the official academic calendar (which includes classes and the exam period).
- Absences incurred due to travel plans (late arrival or early departure) are not justifiable under any circumstances.
- Since many classes have mandatory attendance policies and sitting for all scheduled assessments are essential requirements for obtaining credit, failure to adhere to the calendar due to travel may directly impact your final grades and result in the loss of academic credit for the course.
Therefore, planning your departure only after your last final exam has been published and completed is the best way to safeguard your academic record.
